How the Calculation Works
The calculator sums the protein from every ingredient you enter. Each ingredient contributes amount × its protein density divided by 100. It then divides total protein by total drink weight to express concentration per 100 g, and multiplies that concentration by serving size for the per-serving figure.
Protein per 100 g = total protein ÷ total drink weight × 100
Protein per serving = protein per 100 g × serving size ÷ 100
Worked Example
A Whiskey Sour contains 30 g egg white, 60 g whiskey, 25 g lemon juice, and 15 g simple syrup. Non-protein liquids sum to 100 g. Egg white contributes 30 × 10.9 / 100 = 3.27 g protein. Total drink weight is 130 g. Protein per 100 g is 3.27 / 130 × 100 = 2.52 g. For a 120 ml serving, protein per serving is 2.52 × 120 / 100 = 3.02 g.

Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Forgetting the non-protein dilution. Without it, protein per 100 g looks much higher than the real drink.
- Counting the full shaker volume as the serving. Cocktails are often strained and served with ice, so use the poured or consumed volume.
- Assuming every protein source is identical. Whey powder and egg white are far more concentrated than milk or cream.
- Entering ounces as if they were millilitres. Convert ounces to millilitres first, or use 1 fl oz ≈ 30 ml.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does per 100 g equal per 100 ml? For almost every cocktail ingredient, the density is close to 1 g/ml, so the two are practically the same. The label uses per 100 g because that is the standard nutrition reference.
Why include non-protein liquids? They change the concentration without changing total protein. A shot of cream in 50 ml of coffee has more protein per 100 g than the same shot in 200 ml of coffee, even though the total protein is identical.
